30 hours funding
To establish if you fulfil the criteria, please go to www.childcarechoices.gov.uk to obtain a eligibility code; this will then need to be forwarded to us when you complete the funding declaration form. This would be in addition to providing us with your National Insurance number. The 30 hours may cover the full 5 days at Seedlings; or hours may be split with an additional provider e.g. another setting or a childminder,
Invoices are issued termly. Payment can be made by BACS, cheque or cash.
If you need to discuss your invoice at any time please do come into the office.
Unfortunately missed sessions are non-transferable as our staff ratios are calculated on booked sessions.
We are based within the grounds of Dunstone Primary School and run our practice from self-contained premises within the school grounds. We share facilities and staff with the schools Before and After School Club, with children from the age of 2 years being able to access care between the hours of 07.50 and 17.30 during school term time.
We have our own toilets (child sized!) and nappy changing facilities. We also have our own kitchen area which enables us to provide healthy snacks and cooking activities.
We operate on a free flow play basis allowing the children to develop at their own pace and become their own person. The door to our outside space is open as much as possible. Our focus is on child led play, we plan a variety of activities every day, and the children are free to choose what they want to do and when they want to do it. They are continuously observed and assessed they just don’t know it! We do encourage messy play – so we advise that they don’t wear their best outfits and have weather appropriate clothing.
We want your child to feel happy and safe at the preschool. To make sure that this is the case, the staff will work with you to decide on how to help your child to settle in. Seedlings has a policy about helping children to settle in; this is available for you to read at any time.
Snacks and meals
We make snacks and meals a social time. We provide a healthy snack during the morning and afternoon sessions. Milk and water are always available and at times juice will be provided to ensure children with allergies are catered for. Children bring packed lunches.
Seedlings Preschool is a ‘nut-free’ zone.
Seedlings has a key person system. This means that each member of staff has a group of children for whom they are particularly responsible. They will make sure that what the pre-school provides is right for your child's particular needs and interests. When your child first starts their key person will help your child to settle and to benefit from the pre-school's activities. A buddy system is in place to ensure all children always have a familiar face to support them.
Each child at Seedlings Preschool will have a learning journey that develops with them. We use Tapestry as an online record of their learning journey and experience for parents to access securely and add to if they wish.
Seedlings Preschool has staff trained in running forest school activities. We have daily woodland walks and regular forest school sessions.
Seedlings Preschool operates a completely inclusive policy, we do not discriminate on any grounds.
