You will be advised throughout the term of events / dates.

Need to get to a 9:00 appointment or running a little late for pick-up at 15:00?  Seedlings is now offering two additional sessions:
- 8:50-9:00 = £1
- 15:00-15:20 = £2

These must be pre-booked and will be invoiced termly by Seedlings.  If your child is also booked into Dunstone Primary’s - Before and After School Club outside the following hours 8:50-15:20, then you will receive a separate invoice for this from the before and after school club.

Due to staff/child ratios, this will be on a first come, first served basis so if you are interested then please contact the office ASAP.

Community

It is important for our young children to be aware, interested, and tolerant of the outside world; to this end the children will be introduced to celebrations elsewhere in the world, or within a variety of cultures & beliefs..

We will be receiving visitors to present activities of life, to broaden their knowledge, and to keep them safe.

In our own local community, we have recently linked with Furzehatt Nursing & residential home. we will continue to develop the link. Also with the Plymstock library, we will be involved in activities throughout the year.

If you have any links with the local community, or know of anyone who would be prepared to come & share some of their skills / life experiences with the children; please let us know. In particular if there are any links with the emergency services.

School readiness

We remind parents of the importance of school readiness; resources are available from www.nurseryresources.org/ready-for-school

How can a parent help in the school readiness process?

 · Teach independent skills—opening a lunch box & the contents; self care in good hygiene; dressing & undressing.

· Enjoying counting skills.

· Sharing & turn taking.

· Listening & understanding—follow instructions; understand the importance of rules.

· Interest in the world & new activities.

· Enjoying books and communicating their needs.

· Good routines; especially bedtime.

· Writing skills—colouring, tracing patterns, making marks, holding a pencil—a lot of schools do not want a child to write letters before starting school.

If you have any questions about the above, please come & talk to us.
